Australian Aerospace selects ADG’s R4i S1000D CSDB Server for MRH90

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Australian Aerospace has selected ADG’s R4i CSDB Server suite for the production of ASD S1000D hardcopy manuals for the ADF’s new Multi Role Helicopter, the MRH90.

The selection of R4i for the MRH90 program leverages the existing R4i system which is used by Australian Aerospace to produce Interactive Electronic Technical Manual’s (IETM’s) for the Army’s ARH Tiger.  The MRH90 can carry 18 fully-equipped troops or 4,000kg of under slung load, plus four crew. Cruise speed is 300km/h and maximum range is over 900km.

It has state-of-the-art technology, a composite fuselage, a rear ramp enabling a small vehicle to be loaded, a full fly-by-wire control system and a digital cockpit.  The helicopter is fully marinised and thus able to operate from Royal Australian Navy amphibious ships.

“ADG are pleased to welcome the Australian Aerospace MRH90 project as a new customer in the region, and look forward to supporting the Australian Aerospace program’s in the delivery of PDF and IETP’s to our Defence Forces.  These are first class programs and we are proud of our association with Australian Aerospace”, said Absolute Data Group’s CEO, Tammy Halter.

Latest DefDoc 2010 Conference News and Program

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Join your Defence and Industry peers at DefDoc 2010 (May 19-20, Melbourne). This specialist event provides a forum to share information on initiatives, future intentions and common issues regarding the creation, management and delivery of training, ASD STE-100, PLCM and technical documentation to Australia’s Defence Forces and Industry.

Latest News – UK Technical specialist to present

Dr. Timothy M. King, CEng MIMechE CITP MBCS PhD DIC ACGI, has extensive international experiences in through-life information exploitation to support high value, complex assets.

Since 1986, Tim has participated extensively in applying computer software to support the engineering process. He is a Principal Consultant at LSC Group (UK), where he has worked since 1998. He is a Chartered Engineer (Institution of Mechanical Engineers) and a Chartered Information Technology Professional (British Computer Society).

About Tim’s Presentation

Effective and efficient decision making is the fundamental business capability that drives the requirement for information interoperability and integration.

This interoperability and integration is more extensive if underpinned by open, neutral standards. Such standards include STEP and PLCS for engineering data (ISO 10303) and ASD S1000D for technical documentation.

These standards have been the subject of extensive investment and support from the UK Defence enterprise, within both the MOD and Industry.

The Defence enterprise is now ready to take full advantage of the standards and has built an understanding of how to address the associated practical issues through early examples of implementation.

These examples have already begun to demonstrate the achievability of the promised business benefits. These benefits will grow as implementation becomes more widespread.

Australian Software Chosen by U.S. Military for Unmanned Aircraft

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

U.S. Reaps Benefits of Australian Expertise

Software developed by award-winning Australian IT company Absolute Data Group (ADG) has continued to impress international organisations, with the U.S. Air Force (USAF) being the latest to benefit from its cutting-edge solutions.

U.S. defence contractor, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc., has selected ADG’s content delivery solution to provide interactive electronic technical manuals for the Air Force’s new unmanned aerial system (UAS), the MQ-9 Reaper.

The S1000D software, known as R4i CSDB, means that the USAF can now supplement its traditional high-quality printed manuals with more efficient, interactive, electronic manuals to allow personnel to maintain and repair the new UAS easily.

“R4i essentially creates ‘smart’ maintenance and operational applications that can link manuals, training modules, video and audio to stores systems for parts availability and information,” said Tammy Halter, CEO, ADG.

“This is important because field personnel need easy access to an enormous amount of technical information.  The R4i application allows them to access what they need on the run and in several formats.”

ADG is becoming a household name amongst defence, automotive and IT leaders, not just in Australia, but throughout the world, said Tammy.

“It’s exciting to see ADG technology being used all around the world by some of the biggest organisations and for very important projects,” she said.

“Large organisations and defence departments internationally are choosing R4i because it’s more cutting-edge, cost-effective, quicker to implement  and higher on features compared to other products available.  Customers also trust in ADG’s heritage of working with SGML, XML, Defence, Aerospace and Airline requirements for the last 15 years.”

R4i is currently in use by Australian Aerospace, Australian Defence Industries, Australian Submarine Corporation, the Australian Army, Boeing and Virgin Blue Airlines.

NOTES

About the MQ-9 Reaper

Predator B/MQ-9 Reaper is an unmanned aerial system  developed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. and is currently operational with the U.S. Air Force, NASA and U.S. Department of Homeland Security/Customs and Border Protection and has been acquired by the U.S. Navy and the Royal Air Force.

The remotely operated aircraft is the Air Force’s first purpose-designed hunter-killer UAS designed for long-endurance high-altitude armed reconnaissance and surveillance.

The MQ-9 Reaper design utilizes a 900 shaft-horsepower turboprop engine that allows the aircraft to carry 10 times more ordnance and cruise at twice the speed of its predecessor, the MQ-1 Predator.

The aircraft can carry a variety of weapons, such as air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground missiles and bombs.

Boeing Australia purchases S1000D software from local IT company

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Brisbane IT Company Absolute Data Group (ADG) have recently signed an agreement with Boeing Australia Limited to supply them its locally developed R4i S1000D software for use on upcoming Defence contracts.

ADG’s R4i software was chosen above other US and European vendors to establish Boeing Australia’s S1000D capability. This will enable them to provide S1000D compliant interactive technical manuals to meet upcoming Defence project requirements.

ADG’s CEO Tammy Halter said the decision shows that Australian IT firms can compete with the rest of the world when it comes to cutting-edge technology.

“Large organisations and defence departments across the globe are choosing R4i because it’s more cost effective, quicker to implement and higher on features compared to other products available.

“Customers also trust in ADG’s heritage of working with SGML, XML, Defence, Aerospace and Airline requirements for the last 15 years,” Tammy said.

R4i transforms static electronic documentation into “smart” maintenance and operational applications.  The software has the capability to allow interactive maintenance manuals or training modules, video, audio and written content to be linked to stores systems for parts availability and information.

R4i is already in use by Australian Aerospace, Australian Defence Industries, Australian Submarine Corporation, Australian Army and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems.

For Boeing’s upcoming Defence projects, it will enable defence personnel to easily maintain Boeing Australia supplied products.

“Field personnel need easy access to an enormous amount of technical information and the R4i application allows them to access what they need on the run,” Tammy said.

Boeing Australia’s Product Support Systems Integration Manager, Steven Grant, said: “Boeing Australia have a long standing relationship with ADG and have selected R4i as a cost effective solution that provides the features we require to meet our customer’s expectations.

“This has also been a great opportunity for Boeing Australia to continue its support of local SMEs who produce world-class products and services,” Steven said.
